After the insulator and the
insulated conductor are charged, the charge is kept on the insulator due to
high resistance. Both are called the accumulation of static electricity.
Spark discharge is a
discharge that occurs between liquid or solid conductors. It is characterized
by rapid discharge and a loud popping sound.
2. Corona discharge
When there is a tip with a
small radius of curvature on the conductor, a corona discharge occurs. It is
characterized by the sound of "sizzle" and sometimes a faint glow.
3. Brush discharge
Brush discharge occurs
between a conductor and a non-conductor. It is a discharge that emits short
sparks from many points on the non-conductor.
4. Static ignition
Whether electrostatic
discharge can ignite flammable and explosive mixtures depends on the
composition and temperature of the mixture, the discharge energy, and the
distribution of energy over time and space. The minimum ignition energy of
organic vapor and hydrocarbon gas is between [0.01 to 0.1 m].
